Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our priority

At Maja Magazines, we value your privacy. Therefore, we only process information that is strictly necessary to provide and improve our services. We handle all information we collect about you and your orders with care and will never sell your data to third parties for commercial purposes.

This privacy policy describes what data we collect, why we do so, and with which parties we may collaborate. We also explain how we ensure your data is secure and what rights you have. This policy applies to the use of all our websites. The most recent version, which you can find here, is always the valid version.

1. What data do we collect and why?

In order to process your order and provide you with the best possible service, we need certain information from you. Below, you can read exactly what data we use and for what purpose.

  • Name and address information: This is essential for us to send the magazines to the correct address.
  • Email address: We use your email address to confirm your order, keep you informed about the expected delivery time, and send you a non-binding reminder about renewal. We never use your email address for marketing unless you give us explicit permission to do so.
  • Payment information: Your payment is processed securely by our payment service provider Mollie. We do not see your bank or credit card information; we only receive confirmation that the payment has been made.

2. With whom do we share your data?

We share your data with other parties only if it is absolutely necessary for our service. We have clear agreements (data processing agreements) with all these parties to ensure they handle your data with the same care we do. These are our main partners:

  • Online store software: Our websites operate on professional e-commerce software. This party has access to data for technical support but will never use it for other purposes.
  • Payment provider (Mollie): For the secure handling of payments. Mollie only uses your data to process the transaction.
  • International distributors & publishers: To deliver your magazine, we need to share your name and address information with the publisher or a specialised distributor. They use this data exclusively for shipping.
  • Accounting software: For our administration and to comply with legal obligations, invoice data (such as your name and order information) are processed in our accounting software.
  • Review platform (only for tijdschriftenzo.nl): If you choose to leave a review via WebwinkelKeur, your name and email address will be shared to link the review to your order.

3. How do we ensure and store your data?

We take the security of your data seriously. Our websites use a secure connection (SSL) and we take appropriate technical measures to prevent misuse of the data.

We store your data while you are our customer. If you indicate that you no longer wish to use our services, we will delete your customer profile. Invoice data must be stored for legal obligations (from tax authorities) for 7 years, but after that, they will no longer be accessible to staff.

4. Cookies

Our websites use a limited number of cookies to function properly.

  • Functional cookies: These are necessary for the website to function (for example, to remember your shopping cart).
  • Analytical cookies (Google Analytics): We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use our site, so we can improve it. We set this up in the most privacy-friendly way possible: the data is processed anonymously and is not shared with Google for other services.

We do not use marketing cookies or third-party tracking.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

You are the owner of your own data. Under GDPR legislation, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: You can always request to see what data we have about you.
  • Right of rectification: If your data is incorrect? Then we will correct it for you.
  • Right of deletion: You can ask us to delete your data (considering our legal obligation to store it).
  • Right of objection: You can object to the use of your data.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, or if you have a complaint about how we handle your privacy, you can contact our privacy officer.

6. Contact information

For questions about our privacy policy or your personal data, you can contact us.
